Motive Acquired By Alcatel-Lucent
Alcatel-Lucent said today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Motive, Inc., in a deal worth approximately $67.8M. According to Alcatel-Lucent, it will pay $2.23 per share in cash for Motive. Motive is a provider of software for managing broadband and mobile data services. Alcatel-Lucent and Motive have been working for the last three years to sell software which automates deployment and management of broadband home networking equipment for communications providers; the software is being used by AT&T, Verizon, BT, and others to manage their subscribers. Alcatel-Lucent said that Motive's 300 employees, split between Austin and Bangalore, India, will become part of its Fixed Access Division within its Carrier Business Group.
