GameStop to Buy New Zealand Video Game Chain
Video game and entertainment software retailer GameStop Corp. announced Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire New Zealand's largest independent gaming retailer, The Gamesman. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. GameStop said the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close later this month. Headquartered in Auckland, The Gamesman maintains eight video game stores in New Zealand. Those locations will give GameStop a total of 38 stores in New Zealand and 308 in Oceania. Worldwide, GameStop operates more than 5,400 locations under the GameStop and EB Games brands. GameStop is headquartered in Grapevine, Texas.
