WiQuest Ships Wireless USB Chip

Allen, Texas-based WiQuest Communications, a venture-backed developer of ultrawideband (UWB) semiconductors, said today that it is making a new wireless USB chip available to its customers. The firm said its new WQU210 single-chip, CMOS silicon product provides wireless USB and wireless audio/video support for its customers. The firm's products are used in notebook PCs and notebook PC peripherals. Wireless USB is an emerging standard looking to provide high speed, wireless connections to peripherals and other products. WiQuests said the firm's new chip is a low-power, CMOS system-on-a-chip that provides RF, PHY, MAC, and other features in an integrated design; the device supports WiMedia up to 480 Mbps. The chip will sample in September.
