GENBAND Shops VoIP Server Platform to BroadSoft
Texas-based GENBAND has sold its VoIP-related software line to BroadSoft, a publisher of voice-over-Internet protocol applications for the telecommunications industry, BroadSoft announced Wednesday. Terms of the deal, which includes GENBAND's M6 Communication Applications Server product line and customer base, were not disclosed. BroadSoft said the purchase will allow it to strengthen its position in the VoIP applications market while simultaneously permitting GENBAND to focus on its IP gateway business. Broadsoft added that the transaction marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the companies, which have agreed to cooperate on future projects. Headquartered in Plano, GENBAND maintains research and development facilities in Texas, China, and Brazil. BroadSoft is based in Gaithersburg, Md.
