ACS Gets $27M Alaska Contract
Business process outsourcing firm Affiliated Computer Services Inc. revealed earlier this week that it has won a contract from the state of Alaska's health department worth an estimated $27 million over 21 months. ACS said the contract expands on its current relationship with the Land of the Midnight Sun—a year ago, Alaska awarded ACS a $130 million, 10-year contract to design, deploy and maintain a new Medicaid Management Information System. The new agreement, ACS explained, means the Dallas-based firm will manage the MMIS transition for Alaska's Department of Health and Social Services. As such, ACS said it will assume all fiscal agent services included in the state's former MMIS vendor's contract, including claims processing, recipient helpline, pharmacy help desk and preferred drug list services.
