Caringo Gets Patent Win

Austin-based Caringo, a developer of clustered storage software, said today that the firm has gained a U.S. patent over its hashing algorithms. The patent is used as part of the firm's CAstor software, which is an object-based, content addressable storage product. The firm's VP of Marketing, Derek Gascon, told Texastechpulse that the patent granted to the firm is number 7,373,345. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, the patent was actually granted in May of last year, and was originally filed for in February of 2004. Inventors named on the patent are Paul Carpentier, Peter Forret, and Maarten Willems. The patent was filed for Caringo by Beyer Law Group LLP, according to the filing.
