Dell Buys Perot Systems In $3.9 Billion Deal
Round Rock-based Dell and Plano-based Perot Systems announced today that they are in an agreement where Dell will buy Perot for $3.9 billion. According to the two companies, they believe the acquisition will help the companies provide a broader range of IT services and solutions. Dell and Perot said that Dell will pay $30 per share in cash for Perot Systems, with Perot Systems becoming Dell's services unit. As part of the deal, the firms said that the new unit would be led by Perot Systems CEO Peter Altabef, and that Ross Perot Jr. will join Dell's board of directors. The new company would have approximately $8 billion in yearly services revenue, and $16 billion in combination of hardware and IT services.
