Southwest Airlines To Roll Out Full Wi-Fi Support

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines said Friday that it is officially rolling out full wireless Internet support on its full fleet of 540 planes, after a successful test trial. According to Southwest, it will begin installing about 15 aircraft a month starting in the second quarter, ramping up to 25 installs per month, with complete installation of its planes by early 2012. Southwest is tapping equipment provider Row 44 for the Wi-Fi support. The firm said it is still experimenting with pricing plans on the Wi-Fi access.
