Sprint, Clearwire Target Houston With 4G Wireless Access
Sprint, and wireless Internet partner Clearwire both said today that they are launching 4G wireless service in Houston. According to Sprint, it is launching what it says is the fastest, broadband wireless service in the city, in an expansion of its 4G network. The firm says its new 4G service brings its total markets to 28 with 4G capability. The launch comes in conjunction with an announcement by partner Clearwire--the firm providing buildout of Sprint's 4G network--that it is opening up its own, retail presence and 4G service in Houston. Clearwire said that, in addition to offering its service in Houston, it has opened up retail stores at the First Colony Mall, Kay Mills Mall, Willowbrook Mall, The Woodlands Mall and Baybrook Mall. Clearwire also has plans to open up stores in the Galleria and Memorial City Mall.
