Clearwire Heads Into Texas
Wireless service provider Clearwire has officially opened up service in a number of Texas communities this morning, saying that it will provide its high speed wireless service in Abilene, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Waco and Wichita Falls. The wireless venture, which is headed by Craig McCaw, provides high speed Internet using the WiMax wireless standard, a long range wireless protocol which allows for much greater coverage of geography versus existing WiFi standards. Clearwire said its CLEAR wireless service will be available to customers for $25 per month for home service, and mobile plans at $35 per month. Clearwire is based in Washington State.
