Big In Japan Says Competitor Infringing On ShopSavvy Trademark
Big In Japan, the developer of the popular ShopSavvy mobile application for scanning barcodes and finding comparative pricing information from online retailers, says today that it is contemplating legal action, after discovering a competing, bar code scanning application has been approved by Apple's App Store. The firm--which owns the trademark ShopSavvy--said it discovered that Apple had approved Shop Savvy, a competitive application from firm Blumai. In a blog post, Big in Japan founder Alexander Muse said he was "livid" that a competitor would be "ripping off" the ShopSavvy name to promote their app.
