Sabre Takes Issue With American Airlines

Southlake-based Sabre Holdings, which operates a travel fare and distribution network--and which was originally created by American Airlines in the 1960's--has lined up against American's dropping of its listings on Orbitz. In a statement, Sabre said it opposes American's efforts to "impose a costly and unproven system on travel agents and travelers." The firm said the move would make it "harder and more costlyl for agents and consumers to easily comparison shop among airlines" and also increase prices for consumers. The move came as American Airlines said it would not longer list its schedules and fares on Orbitz.
