BuildFax Launches Consumer Home History Product

Austin-based BuildFax, a provider of a national database of historical building permit data, said today that it is launching a free, consumer service to provide history of a homes' permits. BuildFax--which had previously only offered access to its services to the insurance, financial services, and other industries--said the new, free consumer program will provide permit data regarding key upgrades and repairs made to properties. BuildFax said the reports will be free until July 31st, at which point reports will cost $39.99 each. The firm is venture backed by DMGI and Environmental Data Resources Inc., and just announced a funding round in June.
