Seismic-Micro Technology Acquired By IHS

Houston-based Seismic-Micro Technology (SMT), a developer of geoscience software used in the oil and gas exploration industry, has been acquired by IHS, a Colorado-based provider of information and analytics products. IHS said it will pay $500M in cash for Seismic-Micro Technology. SMT was founded in 1984, and provides tools used for hydrocarbon exploration. The firm is headed by Arshad Matin.
