GameSalad's Latest Hit: Indian Anti-Corruption Game
Austin- and Los Angeles-based GameSalad, the developer of iOS game development software, said today that it has scored a huge hit with a new game developed on its platform--with the unlikely subject being the anti-corruption protests in the country of India. The firm said that the video game, "Angry Anna", has been played over 225,000 times since being launched one week ago, and is a takeoff of the popular "Angry Birds" smartphone games. GameSalad, which was founded by Michael Agustin, Dan Treiman, Tan Tran, and Joshua Seaver, said the game was developed using its software by Indian developer Geek Mentors Studio. Instead the well known birds of Angry Birds, the game includes anti-corruption figures Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and Kiran Bedi, and instead of pigs, it has Indian politicians P. Chidambaram, Pranab Mukherjee, Suresh Kalmadi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
