Freescale Ties With Mentor Graphics

Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor said this morning that it has selected Mentor Graphics, a provider of electronic design automation software, to develop software for its AltiVec processing engine. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. AltiVec is Freescale's DSP, vector processing technology aimed at data processing and algorithmic-intesive computations. Freescale said the technology is a key part of its 64-bit Power e6500 cores.
