SoftLayer Opens Data Center In Singapore
Dallas-based SoftLayer said last night that it has opened up a new data center in Singapore, opening up Asia-Pacific operations for the managed hosting provider. The firm said it has opened up a Singapore data center and points of presence (PoPs) in Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Softlayer said customers will begin to pre-order services on September 23rd, and will go live on October 3rd in the new location. SoftLayer said the new center can handle more than 16,000 servers, and is connected with NTT, Tata, Equinix, as well as direct connections to SoftLayer's own facilities in San Jose and Los Angeles. SoftLayer said it is also planning a new Amsterdam data center and European PoPs in November
