SURGE Accelerator Tops 80 Mentors
Houston-based SURGE Accelerator, the energy focused, business acceleration effort headed by Kirk Coburn, said today that it now has more than 80 industry experts as mentors for the group, as it gears up for its Spring 2012 program. The accelerator is hoping to tap the area's energy expertise to develop smart grid, energy trading and risk management, as well as digital oilfield startup. Surge is offering up ten finalists with $30,000, plus in-kind services from partners, and mentoring through its 12 week mentoring program. SURGE is modeled after successful acceleration programs run by YCombinator and TechStars, to help get startups out of the idea phase and into implementation and funding.
