Report: Gowalla Looks For Buyer

Austin-based Gowalla, the location and travel guide service, is looking for a buyer, according to a report Wednesday from CNN. The report says that the firm is in discussions with a number of buyers, including both Groupon and Google, to acquire the company. Gowalla had struggled to make headway in the location-based check-in market against such competitors as Foursquare and Facebook, and shifted its efforts in September to instead become a guide to travel and location information. CNN cited "multiple sources" familiar with the discussions.
