Active Power Renews Caterpillar Deal

Austin-based Active Power, the developer of flywheel-based uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), said earlier this week that it has renewed an OEM deal it has with Caterpillar for its systems. Financial details of the renewal were not announced. Active Power, which is currently being run by interim CEO Jan Lindelow, said Caterpillar will continue to market Active Power products under the Caterpillar brand and as a complement to its own product line. The two have had a deal since April of 2008; the company has not said how much business it moves through that channel.
