Active Power Wins Utility

Austin-based Active Power, which develops uninterruptible power supplies and backup power systems, reported today that it has been selected by a utility company to provide backup power equipment at that utility's North American datacenter facility. Name of the customer, and financial size of the win, was not disclosed. Active Power said the utility is installing four of its CleanSource 1000 kVA UPS systems. Active Power said the win was unusual in that it had to configure its systems to provide 415 volt power, as opposed to the standard 240 V, including gaining Underwriter Lab (UL) certification on the new capability.
