Texas Instruments Ties To iRobot
Dallas-based Texas Instruments and robot maker iRobot said today that the two have tied in a partnership, where iRobot will develop robotic technologies using TI's OMAP platform. iRobot, is known for its Roomba room cleaning robot, but also develops robots for the army, for ocean exploration, industrial environments, and other areas. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The two also did not detail how iRobot will use TI's smart multicore OMAP platform, which is a systems-on-a-chip product for providing processing for computing tasks, and if and when those chips might be placed into production products.
