Dell Courts Music Lovers With Open Labs, Linkin Park Deal
Round Rock-based PC maker Dell is hoping to attract more music fans as customers, with a link with the band Linkin Park and ties to local music software maker Open Labs. Dell said the deal will make a special, limited time software called Linkin Park Edition, which will include custom-made Linkin Park Sounds and Open Labs Music OS software on its laptops and all-in-one machines. The software, which retails for $299.00, lets users design sounds, produce songs, and share them on the web. Dell said that both Linkin Park and Timbaland are some of the artists using the software. Austin's Open Labs develops music software designed for musicians, producers, and composers. Details of the deal between Open Labs and Dell were not announced.
