Samsung Dangles Mobile App Scholarships To High School Students
Samsung Telecommunications America, the mobile phone provider which has its headquarters in Dallas, said today that it is looking to award a $20,000 scholarship, as part of a set of "mobile application bootcamps" it is running over the next few months. The four mobile application bootcamps--including one being held in Dallas next week--is aimed at high school students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Samsung said it will give students access to Samsung technology, application developers, and web entrepreneurs to learn about developing mobile apps on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Samsung said participating students will get a chance to submit their mobile application ideas for a chance to win a $20,000 grand prize scholarship, and $10,000 and $5,000 scholarship, in addition to its Galaxy S III smartphone. The Dallas boot camp is being held on July 18-19, with other camps being held in San Francisco, Atlanta, and Boston.
