Report: Gamestop Narrows Game Streaming Plans
Grapevine-based GameStop is narrowing its plans for a cloud-based, game streaming service, and is now only planning to stream games to tablets, PCs, and internet enabled TVs, instead of also supporting consoles, according to a report from Engadget. GameStop recently acquired Spawn Labs, a developer of game streaming technology, to compete with similar game streaming services from Sony and Online. The effort is one of a number of moves GameStop seems to be making to broaden its base beyond its retail stores, as more and more consumers shift to downloading or accessing games via the Internet.
