GameStop Taps Into Microsoft Azure
Grapevine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop said today that it will be harnessing Microsoft's cloud hosting service, Microsoft Azure, as a part of an effort to improve its retail stores. According to GameStop, it will stream video game and promotional content directly to its stores using Microsoft Azure, to let customers view trailers, promotional materials, and more on their smartphones and Windows tablets int he store. GameStop said the cloud platform deal will also include streaming video game trailers in 4K ultra HD TV to stores and to maintain an in-store, mobile shopping cart. Financial details of the business deal were not announced.
