Uber Launches In Dallas
Silicon valley's technology driven private car startup, Uber, has launched in Dallas, the firm announced Friday, and will start offering the ability for user to summon the company's vehicles via their smartphone. Uber's service, which is completely driven from a smart phone application, SMS, or a mobile website, allows users to call for a private car ride using their mobile device, pricing those rides by demand. Uber has raised the hackles of some, established taxi operators in other cities, by avoiding the regulation and limitations placed on those services, but has proven popular with tech-set for the convenience of using a smartphone to gain access to private towncars.
