Dell: Businesses Expect More Shopping, Less Work on Cyber Monday
Are you working, or shopping this morning? Today is Cyber Monday, traditionally the busiest day of the year for online shopping--much of it due to employees heading back to work and taking advantage of high speed connections to go shopping. According to Dell, in a survey released last week, 63 percent of businesses expect a greater decrease in productivity today, due to the Cyber Monday shopping crazy, compared with last year. Dell's survey found that 55 percent of businesses of all sizes predict their employees will spend two to four hours a week shopping online during the holiday buying season. Dell ran the survey as part of a way to call attention to its SonicWALL firewalls, which are often used by employers to block access to shopping and other inappropriate work sites during the day; the company released its survey results last week.
