SURGE Accelerator Names New Class Of Energy Startups

Houston's SURGE Accelerator, the startup accelerator which is focused on software startups in the energy sector, announced its latest class of startups Thursday, the second batch of companies out of the startup acceleration effort. According to the accelerator, its second class includes fourteen companies, including Bractlet (Atlanta, GA), Communificiency (New Haven, CT), Dynamo Micropower (Boston, MA), Energy Informatics (San Francisco, CA), Meshify (Houston, TX), Optimitive (Spain), RunTitle (Oklahoma City, OK), Secure-NOK (Norway), Skynet Labs (Ireland), The Metal Exchange (Houston, TX), WatrHub (Canada), and Waveseis (Denver, CO).

All of the startups are related to either traditiional energy, clean energy, or electric power, as well as the water industry. SURGE< whic his headed by Kirk Coburn, said its three month program will culminate in a "demo day" on May 22nd. SURGE is one of a number of startup accelerators using a three-month model to help get companies to the next stage, by applying funding, mentoring, and more to hone their business models and, hopefully, set those companies up for an investment round.
