Report: BMC Software Looks To Go Private
It looks like yet another Texas company is looking to go private, in a deal with private equity companies. A report Thursday from Reuters said that Houston-based BMC Software is in talks with a number of private equity firms, to take the firm private, in a deal worth north of $6 billion. No details on the talks have been released by BMC. BMC is not the only high tech company in Texas in merger and acquisition talks; Round Rock-based Dell is in the midst of its own, go-private effort; SoftLayer is apparently in talks to be acquired by IBM or EMC; and RetailMeNot (formerly WhaleShark Media) has hired investment bankers for an IPO bid, all in recent weeks.
