Insurance Zebra Launches Car Insurance Comparisons
Do you ever wish it could be easier to find and purchase car insurance? That's the idea behind new Austin startup Insurance Zebra, which recently launched an online auto insurance comparison website for Texas. The startup--headed by Adam Lyons--is backed by Mark Cuban, Floodgate, Silverton Partners and Birchmere Labs. The company's service lets users type in their Texas zip code, the kind of car they drive, and instantly get a range of quotes from different insurance providers.
The company said it currently pulls quotes from 23 insurance companies, and is planning to launch regionally, and is also hiring an additional 20 employees to help it grow. The firm recently relocated from Pittsburgh, saying it picked Austin because "Austin is a place where dreams are realized, and being 'weird' is not only accepted, it's actually promoted." The company had been part of Pittsburgh startup accelerator AlphaLab.
