Spanning Cloud Plans Big Hiring On Rapid Growth

Austin-based cloud-based data backup and recovery provider Spanning Cloud Apps said Wednesday that it plans to double its employees this year, from the 40 employees it has now, to nearly 80 by the close of 2014. Spanning Cloud Apps--whose data backup software is used to backup cloud-based apps like Google Apps--said the growth comes after the company went from only 16 employees at the beginning of 2013 to 40 now. The company said it saw 400 percent revenue growth during the year, although it did not detail actual financials. Spanning is backed by such venture investors as Foundry Group and others.
