Q2's Recruiting Field Trip: Yellow School Bus, Brown Bag Lunch
Remember those field trips you took as an elementary school student? In a twist on those bygone school days, one local startup -- Austin's Q2 -- recently ran a "field trip" for potential employees from Austin web development education workshop MakerSquare, complete with brown paper bag lunches and a yellow school bus, according to Q2. Q2 said it invited along 50 MakerSquare students and alumni for the field trip, as part of an effort to give those students exposure to the daily life of an established technology company. Those students also might have gotten another bonus educational tidbit: what it looks like at a company right before an IPO, as Q2 just filed for an IPO yesterday. Q2's field trip comes as Austin has become the hotbed of technology hiring nationwide -- with a surge of companies relocating to the city to tap into the workforce here, and big hiring plans from companies like Spanning Cloud, BigCommerce, and SpareFoot.
