Zimbra Launches New, Free Edition

Dallas-based unified collaboration and community software developer Zimbra said today that it has launched a new, updated version of its software--and rolled out a new, free edition for small businesses and individuals. The company said its updated, Zimbra Community 8.0 is a free edition of Zimbra's software, which lets companies implement its social software on their own. Zimbra also said it has added new contextual search, a new mobile interface, as well as other enhancements. Zimbra was acquired by Dallas-based Telligent last year from VMware. Zimbra had previously only offered its collaboration tools via annual subscription, and was squarely focused on the enterprise market.
