Bazaarvoice Facing Additional DOJ Investigation Over PowerReviews
Austin-based Bazaarvoice, the online ratings and reviews technology provider, is continuing to face issues with the U.S. Department of Justice, saying on a conference call yesterday that the DOJ has informed the company that it is investigating whether the company had satisfied applicable deadlines for transferring or discontinuing use of two software components which were part of PowerReviews. The company said the DOJ notified the company on August 20th of the investigation, which comes as the company agreed to sell PowerReviews to Wavetable Labs. That deal--announced June 4th--completed on July 2nd. Bazaarvoice did not comment any more on the DOJ investigation, but said it is "working in good faith with the DOJ" and expects to "cooperate fully" on the investigation. BazaarVoice detailed the issue in its first quarter financial results call.
