HomeAway's Sharples Backs Car Buying, Selling Startup Beepi
Brian Sharples, the founder, President, and CEO of Austin-based HomeAway, is backing a Silicon Valley startup which is looking to change the process of car buying and selling online--much as HomeAway has done for vacation rentals. According to Beepi, Sharples is one of the investors in a new, $60M funding round for its service, which runs the cars of individuals through a 185 point certification process and handles car photos, offers up a three month/3,000 mile warranty and 10 day money back guarantee to buyers, and a guaranteed price to car owners. The rest of the funding came from Foundation Capital, Sherpa Ventures,Redpoint Ventures, Silicon Valley Bank, Tina Sharkey (SherpaFoundry), Fabrice Grinda (OLX), Jose Marin (IG Expansion), and Rich Boyle (Loopnet).
