Spanning Acquired By EMC

Austin-based cloud data backup and recovery provider Spanning Cloud Apps has been acquired by data storage giant EMC, the two said Tuesday. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. The two said that Spanning will continue to be based in Austin, and will become part of EMC's Core Technologies Division. Spanning was venture backed by the Foundry Group, and had only raised around $8M in funding. Spanning was headed by Jeff Erramouspe.
