Affinegy Wins Broadband Provider

Austin-based Affinegy, which develops software used by connected device and set-top box manufacturers to manage those devices, said this week that it has been selected by broadband provider GVTC. Affinegy said GVTC will use its products to support home Wi-Fi for its 35,000 broadband subscribers. Financial impact of the win was not announced. Affinegy's software platform is being used for installation, automatic provisioning, remote care, and other customer service efforts. Affinegy is led by CEO and co-founder Melissa Simpler. The company got its start in the telecom and cable industry, helping to manage customer equipment, but says it is now looking forward to things like smart kitchen services, home automation and security, and wellness and e-health.
