Freescale Buys CogniVue For Automotive Vision

Austin-based semiconductor developer Freescale said late Wednesday evening that it has acquired Canadian automotive technology developer CogniVue Corporation. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. CogniVue is a developer of automotive, image processing and vision recognition technology. Freescale said the buy will help it solidify its position in the autonomous vehicles/advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) market. CogniVue was based in Ottawa, Canada. The company said the buy is a part of a move to help address the need for autonomous and "crashless" vehicles.
