Dell, Uber Tie On Recycling Old PCs, Technology In New York
In a move which ties together Round Rock-based Dell and its ongoing efforts to promote recycling of old PCs and other used technology, and growing on-demand ride service Uber, Dell said this week that Uber will be helping to provide free pickup of used electronics in New York City on Saturday, November 14th, as part of its program. Dell--which has been helping with PC recycling efforts in a link with Goodwill Industries--said that drivers on the Uber network will provide free pickups of used electronics in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens courtesy of Dell this weekend. The computers will be processed by Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (Goodwill NYNJ), helping to divert e-waste out of New York's waste stream. Dell has a longstanding program, Dell Reconnect, which takes back any brand of used electronics for recycling at Goodwill, which has been running since 2004.
