President Obama Reaches Out To Technology Industry At SXSW
President Obama was the main attraction as SXSW launched on Friday, taking to the stage with Texas Tribune Editor in Chief Evan Smith on Friday to a huge crowd at the Long Center. The "fireside chat", which went for nearly an hour, was posted by the White House (embed below), and had President Obama talking about better collaboration with the technology industry, his views on smart phone encryption, use of big data and analytics, and other topics. President Obama said "The reason I am here is to recruit all of you," was to ask, "how can we start coming up with new platforms, ideas, and apporaches across disciplines and skill sets to solve some of the gig problems we are facing today?" The entire session was reposted by the White House on Youtube (embed below).
