UT Dallas Researchers Developing Electronic Nose

Researchers at UT Dallas have launched an effort to develop an "electronic nose", which is being aimed at analyzing a person's breath for diagnosing health issues. According to the Texas Analog Center of Excellence (TxACE) and Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), the effort uses CMOS integrated ciruits to detect chemical molecules in the air, and applies those results to health diagnostics. SRC did not say how much funding it has provided to the research effort. Results of their studies were presented today. The UT Dallas team's technology uses very high frequency, radio frequency (RF) transmitters and receivers to detect molecules in the air.
