iCARS Dives Into Ridesharing Fray In Austin

Looking for another, ridesharing option in Austin, after the void left by the departure of Uber and Lyft? Yet another, ridesharing service--iCARS, has rushed into the void, saying it has begun offering up rides in Austin through licensed, screened executive car service operators and chauffeurs. iCARS, which is based in San Francisco, says it will offer both immediate, on-demand rides as well as future car reservations.

iCARS said that not only does it require that drivers be fingerprinted, but that it only works with transportaiton companies with at least $1M in commercial liability insurance, those that randomly drug test and background check their employees, provide driver training--and also pay employee benefits, as required by the states they operate in. Uber has become the hottest market for new ridesharing launches in the nation, after the departure of Uber and Lyft. The city now has a growing list of alternatives to Uber and Lyft, including Arcade City Austin, Wingz, and Fasten.
