RideAustin Powers Ridesharing Services For Health Care Effort
RideAustin, the nonprofit ridesharing service which came out of the abandonment of Austin by Uber and Lyft, and is hoping to create community-supported ridesharing resource for the city, has teamed up with the Community Care Collaborative (CCC) and the Dell Medical School, on a new effort to provide ridesharing services to low income patients. According to the three, lack of accessible transportation is a big issue for low income and uninsured patients. The three said that they are running a pilot program with RideAustin, funded by a grant to the CC from the a Transportation Empowerment Fund grant from the Capital Metro Transportation Authority. The project will provide eligible Travis County residents free rides to and from medical appointments.
