Amazon: Hundreds Of Openings In Austin
Online e-commerce giant Amazon.com says it has hundreds of openings at its corporate offices in Austin, part of nearly 100,000 new full time jobs it says it plans to create over the next 18 months. Amazon announced an effort earlier this week to boost its U.S. employment by more than 100,000, which would bring it to a total U.S. workforce of 280,000 by mid-2018, and said that employment in Texas is a piece of that expansion. Amazon says it already employs more than 10,000 full-time associates at fulfillment centers in Dallas, Fort Worth, Haslet, Coppell, Schertz, and San Marcos, and expects to create more than 1,000 new positions at its new Houston location. Amazon said the Austin corporate office already employs more than 500, although it has openings for "hundreds" more that that particular location.
