car2go Upgrades To Mercedes For Car Sharing In Austin

Car sharing service car2go, which is owned by Daimler, announced this morning that it is rolling out 2017 model year Mercedes CLA and GLA vehicles as part of its service. Car2go said the rollout came after a pilot in Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver had its Mercedes vehicles "in near-constant use". Car2go now expects that Mercedez-Benz vehicles will comprise the majority of its North American fleet by the end of 2017. The shift to the larger, luxury Mercedes is a bit shift from the miniature smart fortwo vehicle that had been the mainstay of car2go until the announcement; the cost of taking trips in the Mercedes Benz vehicles will be "slightly higher" than the smart fortwo vehicles.
