GenXComm Gets Seed Funding Round For Wireless Technology
Austin-based GenXComm, a UT Austin spinout which is developing wireless technology, has raised a seed funding round, the company said on Tuesday. The funding was led by FAM Capital partners, and also included UT Horizon Fund and other investors. GenXComm says its technology was originally developed at UT Austin's electrical engineering department, and focuses on how to achieve the full use and near 100% effectiveness of wireless and wired spectrum. The company's technology focuses on "self-interference cancellation" which allows for the full use of wireless spectrum without channel gaps. Those gaps--which are necessary for current technology--prevent channels from interfering with each other, but are very wasteful in terms of spectrum usage. The funding round is worth $1.5M.
