OpenKey Heads To Key West

Dallas-based OpenKey, which develops mobile apps that allow hotel guests to unlock their rooms using their smartphone, has signed up an iconic property in Key West, Florida, as a customer. OpenKey said it has been selected by the Pier House Resort & Spa in Key West, Florida, helping the company to eliminate disposable plastic keys, and also to help provide directions to the property, amenity booking and notification of early or late arrival to the property. OpenKey said the Pier House Restaurant & Spa is known for helping to launch the careers of Jimmy Buffett and Bob Marley. Both Buffett and Marley got some of their first gigs in the hotel's Chart Room Bar.
