TheWaveVR Raises $6M For Virtual Reality Platform
Austin-based TheWaveVR, which develops a social virtual reality platform and community focused on music and visual arts, said this morning that it has raised $6M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by RRE Ventures, and also included Upfront Ventures, KPCB, Greycroft VR Gaming Tracker Fund, The VR Fund, and others. The investment also included Andy Ross, from the band OK Go; Alex Chung (co-founder and CEO, Giphy); and Matt Brimer (co-founder of General Assembly and Daybreaker). As part of the funding, RRE's Alice Lloyd George joins the company's board of directors. The company says it has now raised $10M in funding.
