Match Settles Patent Lawsuit With Chinese Dating App Developer

Dallas-based Match Group has settled a patent and trademark infringement lawsuit with Chinese dating app developer Tantan, where it had accused Tantan of copying its dating app, Tinder. Match Group had accused Tantan of creating a copycat of Tinder's system in China. Financial details of that settlement were not announced. Match Group had filed its patent and trademark infringement lawsuit against Tantan--often referrred to as "China's Tinder"--back in March. The patent lawsuit, Match Group LLV v. Tantan Ltd., had been filed in the Texas Western District Court.
